There is something especially meaningful about coming back to San Diego because, several years ago, it was one of the very first regions in California to welcome Vlada’s Seeds of Life and our mission of promoting healthier, more connected, and sustainable communities through gardening.
Our early partnerships with San Diego libraries helped demonstrate the incredible impact that free seed programs can have on families, inspiring people of all ages to grow their own food, spend more time outdoors, and reconnect with nature.
As our program continued to expand nationwide, seed distribution in San Diego was temporarily placed on hold. The reason was simple—our San Diego library partners requested that we provide heirloom seed varieties exclusively, reflecting their commitment to preserving biodiversity and offering gardeners the highest-quality, open-pollinated seeds.
Today, we are proud to say that the wait is over.
After several years of carefully sourcing and expanding our collection, we are excited to once again bring premium rare and heirloom fruit and vegetable seeds to San Diego County.
This spring, Little Sprouts distributed free seeds to 21 public library destinations throughout the county:

The return of Little Sprouts to San Diego also strengthens our broader educational mission. Together with our nationally distributed television program, Cooking with Vlada, we continue to encourage families to embrace healthier lifestyles through gardening, natural cooking, and spending meaningful time together around the family table.
